Even closer to the holiday home is the wonderful Glenevin Waterfall. A lovely walk following a  stream through a wooded valley leads to the 40ft waterfall. There are a number of scenic picnic areas along the route. If you haven’t brought a picnic you can always call into the renowned Glen House Tea Rooms located at the start of the walk.

Clonmany village itself is well served with traditional pubs while Ballyliffin has a good selection of hotels that serve bar and dining room food. One of the highlight of the year is the week long Clonmany Festival which takes in the first week of August. This is a family orientated festival that has a packed programme of events. Each evening one of Irelands top bands perform live on an open air stage in the town.

Locally there is Golf , horse riding, sea angling and fishing along with miles of golden sandy beaches and wooded country roads suitable for walking. The Heritage Centre in the village depicts much of the history of the area.

Nestled at the foot of Errigal (the hightest mountain in County Donegal) and overlooking the beautiful Poisoned Glen sits the beautiful ‘Old Church of Dunlewey’. “Jane Smith Russell had the church built as a memorial to her husband, James Russell, landlord of the Dunlewey Estate, who died on 2nd September 1848. James Russell was laid to rest in a vault under the church floor. The church was consecrated on 1st September 1853 as a Chapel of Ease to Tullaghabegley. Tullaghabegley was the parish consisting of the present day Gweedore and Cloughaneely parishes.

Moagh Cottage is a beautiful 4 bedroom cottage situated just outside the Heritage Town of Ardara in South West Donegal. From its elevated site it commands wonderful views towards Loughros Beg Bay and the mountains that surround the Glengesh Pass. The cottage has a peaceful location. Adding to the tranquilizer of the location is the sound of a mountain stream the flows in a small ravine below the cottage.

The environs of the town is an area rich in history, culture, bounded by stunning landscapes and has an abundance of activities for the holidaymaker.

Ardara is a traditional centre for weaving and knitwear production. Its historical importance has been recognised in the granting of Heritage status to the town. The visitor will find a number of excellent restaurants in the locality as well as friendly pubs — several of which feature traditional music sessions.
